Using education to rebuild Myanmar
Burmese schools were considered among the best in Asia until the military Junta took over and oppressed the country for 50 years. According to UNESCO, Myanmar’s education budget is currently one of the lowest in the world, with thousands of schools still lacking basic learning aids.
To rebuild what has been demolished by dictators, we gave school children the right bricks.
So we created the BrickBook: a hands-on substitute for textbooks, which uses blocks and card-based games to teach basic and advanced lessons on mathematics and problem solving skills.

Watch the video below.

1. We ran a donation drive among kids in Singapore to collect thousands of pre-loved blocks.

2. The blocks were repackaged with educational cards co-created and tested by Little Village teachers and students.

3. The BrickBook kits were then delivered to disadvantaged schools in Myanmar.
To build a better future, all that the Burmese children need is education.
Hundreds of Singaporean families became brick donors in 2017 and an on-going campaign is ready to reach more schools in 2018. The lessons are available online under Creative Commons.
